Edwards to Evans will continue!!

According to the AP, the Buffalo Bills and Lee Evans agreed to a 4 year contract extension on Thursday worth $37.25 million with $18.25 million in guaranteed money.

That averages out to around $9.3 million per year, which makes Evans the fourth-highest paid receiver in the league behind Carolina’s Steve Smith, Arizona’s Larry Fitzgerald and Indianapolis’ Marvin Harrison. This would make him very overpriced, but with the silly contracts that other teams are throwing out to lesser receivers, I think you had to see this coming. This package had to be more than the big offseason free agent deal Minnesota gave Bernard Berrian, which was for $7 million a year, because Evans’ is better then Berrian.

So while I think that he will now have to do a lot more to earn his paycheck, it was something that needed to be done, and I am glad that our owner is smart enough to realize that he needs to loosen the strings on his wallet.
