Not so easy, but still a victory

So much for a nice easy victory…. This team started off looking like the Bills of old and allowing an inferior team dictate the play. They started off sloppy costing themselves a chance to make the game a lot easier then it was. But all in all, it is still another victory under the belt and it takes the Bills into first in the division. I know this is a little early to talk about places but if you look at the AFC, it isn’t impossible to think about running away with the division early. New England got stomped by Miami, the Jets aren’t as amazing as everyone thought.

So to the game, the Oakland defense had great speed and in the beginning it got to the Bills big offensive line, but you could see towards the end of the game when the O-line needed to push the D-line around, they could. For whatever reason, the Bills could not hold onto the ball and it cost them a few point early. Trent Edwards threw a disputable interception that led to Oakland’s first touchdown. But after that interception, a light bulb must have gone off in his head because he was phenomenal after making big throws and looking poised in the pocket. Game ball to Trent Edwards for once again leading his team to a come from behind victory. I don’t want to jinx it or anything but he is looking like a Tom Brady clone before Tom Brady got Randy Moss. Edwards is a poised quarterback that will not lose games, but you can see the skills and the mindset of a great quarterback. Now of course to actually be able to compare him to Brady, he needs some fashionable jewelry first but we can hope cant we?

On the defensive side of the ball, the Oakland running attack was able to get their feet going from time to time, but when the Bills needed to hold, they held. All in all the Bills defense looked good…. except on that huge touchdown pass that could have ended the game. It was a great pitch and run after but still someone should have been in the middle of the field to ensure that the seams were covered.  And I know it was a stupid penalty but I like Donte Whitner showing that young receiver that you don’t come into another’s mans house and taunt, the late hit was defiantly late but it wasn’t something that could have hurt the player, it was just a hey do you know where you are. I like the aggressiveness and to be a championship caliber team, you need to have some meanness to you.

My other game ball will go to Rian Lindell for his game winning field goal this week. I know that is what he gets paid to do but it is still huge to be able to know you can hit it through no matter the situation. He is spot on from inside 40.

So overall a very exciting game and I cant wait for next week so that the Bills can go to Edward Jones Dome and take down the winless St. Louis Rams….just as a side note, I have to believe that this game will be and easy one because the Rams got stomped on by Seattle who we stomped on so lets go BILLS!!!!
