7-6. That right there is a record I would never have thought the Bills could have reached this season. They started the season 0-3 and did not have any momentum after the start of the season but now through 13 games they have climbed above the breakeven point. This comes on the heels of the most impressive victory of the season over the lowly Dolphins.
The Bills had all facets working for them in this game by dominating all three areas of the game. Their offense scored touchdowns, their defense took the ball away, and their special teams gave them great field position and would have added some more points if not for a penalty. The offense led by rookie quarterback Trent Edwards used two running backs and two receivers to have his best game of his career. Marshawn Lynch had 107 rushing yards in his return from injury with Fred Jackson good for 115 of his own. Lee Evans ended the game with 2 catches for 79 yards and 2 scores, and Robert Royal…..yes the tight end Robert Royal added the first two scores of the game. Buffalo’s defense won the turnover battle by a 5-1 count helping the Bills offense exploded for 31 points.
The defense played tough all game and really got to rookie quarterback John Beck. Beck was hurried for the time he was in the game but was pulled in favor of Cleo Lemon after George Wilson recovered a ball that slipped right out of Beck’s hand and took it to the house for 7. Lemon came in and gave the Dolphins a jolt engineering a quick touchdown drive but was ineffective for the rest of the game.
The special teams for the Bills got into the record books on two fronts with Rian Lindell setting a Bills record with his 18th consecutive field goal and Roscoe Parrish setting a record with the most punt return yards in Bills history. Lindell went on to miss his next field goal put can you blame the man for missing one.
This win was a huge one for a potential run at the playoffs setting up an interesting matchup with the team currently holding the final wild card spot in the Cleveland Browns. This game gave the Bills a good stepping point by showing their fans and convincing their own players that they can put points on the board which they will have to do against the high scoring Browns offense. Let’s make the run to the playoffs…LETS GO BUFFALO!!!
