To start I would like to say RIP to Sean Taylor.

So after a brief absence I am back and will try and be better than ever. So let’s get onto the Bills vs. Redskins.  I didn’t get a chance to watch the game because of work but from what I heard, the bend don’t break Bills defense, a boring don’t make mistakes offense and a sure-footed kicker allowed the Bills to put just enough points on the board to overcome an 11-point second half deficit to win 17-16 over the Redskins. The game started off boring with the score going into half being 9-2. I was sitting at work wondering if the Bills were going to be able to outscore the Sabres from the night before, but my worries were erased in the second half as the Bills started putting some drives together with the help of their defense. The Bills defense got a couple of late stops, a safety and a long overdue pass rush which led to two takeaways in Washington territory to give Buffalo a chance in the second half against the Redskins. Down 11 the Bills offense could manage only field goals, but four of them were enough as Rian Lindell’s fifth of the day was true from 36 yards for a dramatic 17-16 comeback victory over Washington.Washington coach Joe Gibbs was the victim of his attempt to be clever. Lindell lined up for a 51-yard attempt, and in an effort to ice Buffalo’s kicker the Redskins called timeout as Lindell booted the ball right through the uprights. After the first time out was called, Lindell set up again and this time before he went to kick the play was stopped because Joe Gibbs called another time out. Well the thing that I knew, the announcers knew, and most everyone else knew was that you cannot do that. What I didn’t know was that it isn’t a 5 yard delay of game but a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. Lindell then effortlessly put a 36-yard field goal through for the winning points with four seconds remaining. With the kick Lindell tied Steve Christie’s team record for consecutive field goals at 17, but if you include the 51 yarder that came before the game winner then shouldn’t he be at 18? The two Bills turnovers were caused by great individual and team efforts. The first coming when Kyle Williams caught Washington quarterback Jason Campbell around the ankles, and Larry Tripplett quickly followed up hitting Campbell up high to force a fumble. The loose ball was recovered by Angelo Crowell at the Redskins 39. That defensive takeaway was followed by a fantastic diving pass breakup by Terrence McGee on the Redskins’ next possession. Larry Tripplett swooped in and caught the ball before it hit the ground for his first career interception at the Washington 24. Both of these turnovers only led to field goals for Lindell who accounted for all but 2 points on the day.At about this time the Bills offense decided that it needed to put at least some points on the board without the help of the defense. A 54 yard pass from Trent Edwards to Fred Jackson put the Bills in good scoring territory but they were unable to convert their chance into a touchdown. Fred Jackson stepping in for the injured Marshawn Lynch and Anthony Thomas had a very productive day by having 16 carries for 82 yards and 4 catches for 69 yards. Trent Edwards showed why the Bills coaches have put him in instead of JP Losman, by having a productive statistical day and keeping the Bills offense alive enough to pull out a win. His final numbers were 22 out of 36 for 256 yards. What was the best about Trent Edwards performance was the amazing throw he made to set up the game winning field goal, where he hit Josh Reed in stride while getting the ball over two linebackers and right in front of the safeties. Buffalo improved to 6-6 on the season with their playoff hopes still alive. They host Miami next Sunday at Ralph Wilson Stadium, and if they can win that they will be in a position for their game against Cleveland to really matter.
