So the Bills avoided their near trap game and were able to defeat the Miami Dolphins by a score of 13-10, it might not have been pretty but a win is a win.

After a three-quarter snooze fest, the Bills offense finally woke up for long enough in the fourth quarter to put together a 10-play drive capped by a Marshawn Lynch three-yard run and two-point conversion. Until that point I was starting to think that the defense was going to outscore the offense with a Chris Kelsay third-quarter safety, but Lynch’s score’s were able to pull the Bills even at 10.On Buffalo’s final drive, Lynch once again showed his toughness by getting two key first downs which allowed the Bills to set up for a 34-yard field goal by Rian Lindell with 46 seconds remaining to make the score 13-10. He didn’t put up the huge stats of a week ago when he ran for 153 yards and a touchdown, but Lynch was depended upon more in this game than any other this year. Lynch was in essence the team’s offense particularly in crunch time.On the game winning drive, Roscoe Parrish had a great punt return of 40 yards to set the offense up 1st-and-10 at midfield. The rookie tailback then was forced to convert a 3rd-and-8 with a 10-yard reception and then converted a huge 3rd-and-2 with a hard fought three-yard run essentially setting up the game-winning field goal. The third down conversion allowed the Bills to run another three running plays forcing Miami to use all three of their timeouts before Lindell put the game winner directly through the uprights. There was a downside to the final drive with Marshawn suffering an ankle injury on his last third down conversion, but Dick Jauron was hopeful that it wasn’t serious, and it was reported on the radio that he was dancing on the sideline after the game winning field goal. Buffalo’s defense, which gave up yards but not points, got the necessary stop on fourth down after a squib kick gave the Dolphins possession at their own 45-yard line with under a minute to play. The Bills were hesitant to kick it to Ted Ginn Jr. seeing as he had returned a kickoff for a touchdown after Lynch’s score but fortunately for the Bills there was a holding penalty on that return. The defense was put into a tough spot but with good coverage and good pressure they were able to get the Dolphins to miss on a fourth down pass that was defended beautifully by Jabari Greer.  What put Buffalo in a 10-0 hole was an unproductive first half by the Bills offense that continued in the second half as J.P. Losman followed up a solid performance against Cincinnati with an inconsistent one against Miami. Losman was 4-11 for just 62 yards in the first half with an underthrown pass that was intercepted in the end zone. Losman had a better second half going 8-12 passing including a couple of important completions to Lynch and a clutch pass in the flat to Michael Gaines on the game-winning drive. He finished the day 12-23 for 157 yards and an interception for a passer rating of 55.9. His stats could have been better but Michael Gaines dropped what could have been a touchdown pass, and at very least would have put the Bills in good position to get on the board earlier in the game. While Lynch carried the load in big spots on the winning drive, Losman’s biggest play was his 4th-and-1 sneak at the Dolphins 24-yard line to keep their tying touchdown drive going. After trying to get the first down on a 3rd-and-2 sneak, Losman got a second chance on fourth down and ran off left tackle Jason Peters as the line crashed down inside and got just enough for the first down. The measurement was as close as it could possibly be and luckily the Bills got the call. The first half for the Bills offense was a forgettable one and that is why I don’t really feel like writing anything about it. The only good news to come from the first half was the Bills defense once again showing that they cannot be looked at like a joke anymore. Come the second half the Bills defense which had given up yards, but just three points in the first half was tiring, but after allowing the Dolphins to put together an 18-play 80-yard drive that chewed up a lot of clock and resulted in a five-yard touchdown run by Cleon Lemon and a 10-0 advantage, they clamped down for the rest of the game. With the victory the Bills improved to 5-4 and have now won four straight. They host undefeated New England on Sunday night.
