So with the return of Willis Almighty, this game held a little more intrigue then a normal middle of the year game. The Bills behind 4 Rian Lindell field goals defeated the Baltimore Ravens 19-14 yesterday afternoon.

Ok so this is going to broken down into four different sections, coaching, offense, defense and special teams. First lets talk about our offense…..

Trent Edwards went 11 for 21 for 153 yards with one potentially devastating interception. Marshawn Lynch had 27 carries for 84 yards and a touchdown. Our offense is being led by two rookies that are showing what this team could look like for the next couple of years. Trent Edwards got Lee Evans involved early and often and finally showed signs of a long arm by hooking up with Evans for a 54 yard pitch and catch. The Bills offense looked great until they were inside the red zone, with their lack of tight end help and their little speed receivers, they really don’t have any options other then trying to run it in. The offense went to a no huddle approach for the majority of the game and Trent Edwards ran it without a hitch, he even got the Ravens defense to jump offsides a few times.

The defense played up to the level of the 4th ranked defense, not the 32nd ranked defense that they are. They matched the Ravens intensity even though they have maybe half the talent. Even though they let Willis get a few good runs including a 46 yard touchdown (where was that type of run the last few years), they for the most part held the Ravens down long enough to win this time. I expected more pressure from our defensive ends but the Ravens went to a quick passing game which limits the amount of pressure you can actually get so what can you say right?

Our special teams won the game for us with Lindell’s field goals making the difference. Our return game was good, Roscoe Parrish and Terrence McGee are one of the best return duos in the game. Our special team coverage made it difficult for the Ravens to get good field position and when Brian Moorman is punting, you know you are going to get good kicks.

And now onto the coaching. This year, the coaching has been questionable at best and that has caused this team to drop some games that they should have won. In this game, while I disagree with calling the pass play that got intercepted, the coaches had a plan and they had their team out there executing. The Bills won this game with a good game plan and good execution.

So yeah this game went down to the wire and I know that like myself all the Bills fans out there were sitting around thinking how are we going to let this game get away from us, but they didn’t let it get away and this team just might be ready to turn the corner and learn how to win.
