So it took me a few days to get over the way the game ended Monday night. I wanted to make sure that I was level headed before I started writing some things that were more based on emotion then on what actually occured. I think that throughout the game, there were a few things that I would have done differently if I were the headcoach of the team but I am not the head coach of this team.
I will give Dick Jauron one ringing endorsement, he got his team ready to play. Now for everyone out their that is calling for this guys head because he called for a reverse on 3rd and 1, or he went for a field goal at the end of the half instead of punting it away and keeping a 10 point lead, or even allowing a pass to be thrown from the 12 yard line when a field goal puts the lead to a full two score game….wait I thought that I wasn’t going to start bashing this guy…back on track now, Dick Jauron definatly did get his team to play hard and despite being a huge underdog and being heavily out done in the talent department, his team played neck and neck with one of the top 5 teams in the league and made one of the “up and coming” quarterbacks of the future look like crap for the majority of the game.
This game had upset written all over it and when our 4th string cornerback Jabari Greer broke up the two point conversion against one of the top wide receivers in the game in TO, I thought that the 6 turnovers, two defensive touchdowns, and the 103 yard return would have been enough, but the Cowboys found a way to get the onside kick and then get the few yards they needed to get in field goal range. The defense played their best game of the year, and overall I think that the team as a whole played their best game of the year. The offense might have only put 3 points on the board, but for most of the game they did not make any mistakes. The lone mistake was Trent Edwards pass to Lee Evans that was picked off and almost taken to the house. Even that pass however would not have been that bad if it wasn’t for it being deflected by a leaping lineman.
I don’t know what else I can say other then the sun will come up tommorow just like it did today and despite not getting the W in the game, the Bills did just show up on national television and they looked like the better team. Monday Night Football might look at the Bills again because this game had everything that you need for a good game, action, drama, and a great ending…….
Ok so I know I don’t want to say what everyone else has already been saying but I have to…..HOW DO YOU LET A GUY RUN AN 8 YARD CROSSING PATTERN WITH 7 SECONDS LEFT IN THE GAME WITHOUT MAKING SURE HE DOES NOT GET OUT OF BOUNDS!!!! WHAT DID THEY THINK THE COWBOYS WERE GOING TO DO, RUN A 20 YARD PASS TO THE MIDDLE???? SERIOUSLY THERE WERE ONLY TWO OPTIONS THAT THEY COULD TRY A SHORT PASS TO THE SIDELINE OR A HAIL MARY, AND WHO THOUGHT THEY WERE GOING FOR A HAIL MARY??? Ok so now that I have that out of my system I can get on with my rankings for this week.
