Another week down and I realize that I may have made some minor errors in my rankings last week. With that knowledge here are my new rankings…
1. Patriots (3): I hate doing this….I mean I really hate doing this but lets face it, they have faced two playoff teams from last year and haven’t even blinked…
2. Colts (1): Yeah I know I shouldn’t move the #1 team out of that spot until they actually lose a game but they didn’t look great against the Titans so they are the #1 after the #1.
3. Cowboys (4): How ‘bout them Cowboys, they might not be running the ball that well, but their passing game has been on point.
4. Steelers (8): They are 2-0 and have looked really good, but those wins have come against the Bills and the Browns….the real test is coming up for the Black and Yellow in the form of Chicago.
5. Chargers (2): They are entitles to one bad game aren’t they?
6. Ravens (11): In the battle of backups, Kyle Boller looked good but they almost gave it right back at the end.
7. Bears (6): Go fatman, go fatman, Go!! I love when offensive tackles score touchdowns!!!!
8. 49ers (14): Frank Gore played with a heavy heart, and I give that man all the respect in the world.
9. Broncos (10): Two games , Two wins, Two game winning field goals needed to put away the bottom dwellers of the NFL….eventually they are going to play a team that is ready to win now.
10. Texans (23): Biggest jump of the week belongs to the loveable Houston Texans. This week is going to be tougher with Andre Johnson being out against the defending champs.
11. Seahawks (7): Losing in the division is never good, but to have it happen on a botched handoff is just horrible. They have to be hoping that this one doesn’t come back to haunt them.
12. Packers (15): Brett Favre has got the cheese heads moving in the right direction. That defense is young, fast, and really hungry.
13. Bengals (5):Ouch they put up more yards and points then a lot of teams have put in their first two games and still lost….that defense is going to get ripped to shreds in in meetings this week.
14. Redskins (18): Jason Campbell is looking like he has the making of a good quarterback and the team is winning despite a rash of injuries.
15. Titans (13): They almost pulled that game out at the end. They are just a little out matched versus the Colts, but just give Vince Young some time.
16. Lions (19): Ok so he might not be Tom Brady, Carson Palmer, Peyton Manning, or Donavon McNabb but Jon Kitna and his miracle recover has the Lions 2-0 and playing good ball.
17. Panthers (9): At least Steve Smith had a good game. How did that vaunted defense let up 34 points in a row to the Texans?
18. Jaguars (17): If it has been anybody but the lowly Falcons this team could be 0-2. They need to get going if they want to compete for the playoffs.
19. Cardinals (25): They got the lucky bounce they needed and were able to win a game that they needed. The Edge looks like he is running with a purpose again which could spell trouble for the rest of the teams in that division.
20. Saints (12): The first of two big losers this week. The Saints are not playing with the same intensity that they did last years.
21. Eagles (16): McNabb is opening his mouth about being criticized too much due to the color of his skin. Let me tell you, there is a really easy way not to get criticized….WIN A FOOTBALL GAME!!!
22. Buccaneers (29): Did any one else see that block that Michael Clayton laid on the Saints safety spring Joey Galloway for the touchdown….oh my he laid that guy out.
23. Browns (32): Trade away a quarterback, put a backup in and score 51 points….not a bad week for the Browns. Unfortunately this means that no one will be calling for Brady Quinn this week.
24. Vikings (22): Tarvaris Jackson is looking like the big question mark that he was supposed to be. His play is going to decide what this team does this year.
25. Rams (20): I don’t know if there is anything you can point at for this disappointing start, but they can easily turn it around….I think.
26. Jets (26): What is the record for dropped touchdown catches that would have won the game? I am guessing the Jets receivers now hold that mark.
27. Giants (21): Eli tried to play through the pain but he just couldn’t match up with one of the greatest of all time. He showed some guts, give him some credit at least.
28. Raiders (28): Having a game winning field goal negated by a late timeout call was bad enough, but did the next attempt have to boink off the upright. The Raiders deserved better.
29. Dolphins (27): It gets tough to choose which team is the worst when it comes to these bottom dwellers.
30. Bills (24): They were in the first game, they weren’t even in the same stadium in the second game, they probably won’t be on the same planet in their third game.
31. Chiefs (30): Didn’t they learn anything about kicking to Devin Hester?
32. Falcons (31): The new #1 of the bottom has called for re-enforcements. Welcome to the team Bryon Leftwich, and the NFL’s all-time leading scorer Morten Andersen.
Ok so I know I made some mistakes last week, but I am sure that this week will be better.
